Absence Made Visible
“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.” ~Jamie Anderson
You can see in this piece that the first girl’s grief is pent up, held close, unexpressed.
The second girl has let go and let it out; grief is spilling out of her soul, pouring over her head and body. She’s awash in grief.
If you’re dealing with grief, please know that it’s okay to say “I’m grieving”. Grief has no timeline, no rules.
